The Operational Matrix can be found here.

The Millstone Derry resort operates in three phases; Active, Inactive & Dormant.

The Active Phase begins 7AM Friday morning prior to the arrival of guests and Ends 6:59AM The following Friday.  During this time, all staff, performers and operational technicians are "live" conducting the resort's operations and activities.  During this time:

The Inactive Phase begins 7AM Friday following the departure of all guests and Ends 6:59AM the Friday of guest arrival.  During this phase, all repairs, construction, rehearsals, restocks, sales processing and administrative tasks are performed.  The Inactive phase takes place in the period between scheduled resort operations and Six Weeks prior to the first week of operation and  Three Weeks following the last scheduled event of the season.

The initial Inactive Phase includes six weeks of preparation for the upcoming season. Performers, Writers, Directors and Production Crew arrive to create the character storyline for the season.  The development of the story will take place in the Administration Building while construction and opening of the resort physical plant will be conducted from the Staging Areas.  Once completed, resort lodging will be assigned to Key Performers and Performers, productions rehearsed and staged, and all construction will take place in the resort facility.  Seasonal vendors and festival participants will be contacted with scheudles and contracts.  The Park Control area will conduct tests and upgrade all equipment, monitors, communications and implement policy and procedural changes for the new season.  Sales and Administration will assist in guest arrangements and coordinate with Performers and Activity Directors to customize vacation packages for guests.  Welcome Center and Administration will begin training for the upcoming season including the coordination of guest arrivals, orientation, and exceptional customer service policies.   The Staging Areas will open their warehouses to supplies that will be needed throughout the season including food, spare parts, linens, etc.  Inventory will be conducted and Operations upgraded.

Intermediate Inactivity takes place between resort activities.  During these weeks, productions will be developed, performances rehearsed and supplies replenished.  All operations are subject to audit and will be evaluated for performance and practicality.  Guest feedback will be used to assist in the development of all aspects of the resort experience.  Performers and Key Performers will be permitted to leave the park for a few days based on contracts.  Payroll and Hours are reduced to offset  operational expenses during this time where no revenue is being generated.  Sales and Travel Assistance will continue through the Guest Services office and Sales Initiatives will continue.

Final Inactive Phase is a seasonal wrap-up, including a final operational audit, exit interviews, proposals for the upcoming season, and the closing of the physical plant.  The Welcome Center, Park Control and Western Staging Areas are closed down for the season and secured.  Non-essential staff are given performance appriasals and released.  Sales begins its off-season promotional initiatives while Administration and Project Development use the data from guest feedback, expenses, accounting and creative services to form plans for the next season.

Training is conducted during this period as well.

The Dormant Phase begins 7AM Friday following a three-week Inactive cycle where all park facilities are closed and secured for the winter and ends Six weeks prior to the first scheduled week of activity in the park.  During this time, the Welcome and Park Control Centers are closed.  Essential personell are transferred to the Administration Building to participate in Project and Operational Development.  All Staging Area activities are reduced to site security and maintenance (physical plant upkeep) and inventory-related operations.  Staging Crew is reduced to essential personell and are moved to the Eastern Staging Area located closest to the Administration Building.  Auditions, hiring of vendors, suppliers, price negotiations, budgeting and sales are concentrated in the Administration Building during this period.  During this time, staffing is 10% of what is required during the Active Phase.
