Welcome to
Entertainment Dynamics.
The
Enterdyne
Welcome Center is designed as a
simplified airport term
inal.
The
Welcome Center consists of
three levels.
The
highest level is the ARRIVALS TERMINAL. It opens onto the
local access road and rests atop a hill. It features guest-access
areas including the Ticket Counter, Security Screener, Restaurant, Gift
Shop and Gate Terminal. It is also the entryway to the "Time
Transport" ride/conveyor that begins the guests’ adventure into the
past.
Adjacent to the
main terminal is a secured parking facility for Welcome
Center workers, guests and company vehicles.
Guests may
arrive a
t
the Welcome Center 3 hours prior to departure and
may make use of the many attractions of the facility including the
"Millstone Derry Museum" (complete with artifacts and history of the
village), a modern bar and grille, and a waiting terminal. Guests
will be asked to check their baggage at the ticket counter and pass
through security just like at any airport. From there, they will
meet fellow travelers.
In security,
guests will be reminded of the resort’s "prohibited items"
policy they signed prior to arriving at the gates. All prohibited
items will be secured in a safe at the Welcome Center for the duration
of the stay.
Guests from the
village will also be on hand returning from their
visits to the 21st century and to assist in the brief orientation.
The second,
subterranean level is office and maintenance space.
The lowest level
is where the "Time Transport" comes to rest and the
guests transfer from the ride to the horse-drawn carriage.
Additional space is reserved for spare parts, carriages and a
fully-staffed machine shop.
Check in Time on
Friday is after 12pm. Departure from the Welcome
Center to the resort is at 5:15pm
Upon arrival,
Guests are directed to the ticket terminal where luggage
is checked i
n
and transported to the village prior to the guests’
actual departure. Porters and "skycaps" are also available upon request
or by arrangement. Performers and Staff are on hand to assist
preparing guests for their journey.
The
Welcome Center for the resort will have a motion simulator ride
that serves as a link between the 21st century and 19th. Complete
with orientation and thrill ride, the simulator will drop the guests
three stories to a location hidden behind the Welcome Center where they

will de-board the "plane" and enter a 19th century
corral. From there a
pair of carriages will take them up the winding forest trail to the
main gates of the resort.
All personal belongings are tagged and
delivered to the resort by
company transport via the western access road. From there, all
luggage enters the resort through the western staging gate and is
delivered to the guest’s appointed accommodations.
In keeping with
Enterdyne’s "Full Immersion" philosophy, many modern
items and conveniences are prohibited. Items on the list include
but are not limited to:
·
Fire arms, fireworks,
explosives
· Video game consoles or
hand-held devices
· Portable television
· Cellular phones or Wireless
communicators
· Portable radios (except
personal players with headphones)
· Laptop computers
· Video camcorders (still
cameras are permitted)
· PDAs
· Any item that would distract
from the illusion of life in the
late 1800s.
Guests are
assured that any emergency communications will be
immediately brought to their attention and emergency outgoing
communications are also available.
THE TIME
TRANSPORT
The Time
Transport is a custom-configured motion simulator with seats
for all guests.
The ride simulates a "jump jet" experience that takes
the guests from the ground, into low orbit, through a temporal vortex
and then down through the atmosphere to a rural location outside of the
village. During the flight, the guests will experience mild
turbulence and a sense of being launched into space before a
spine-tingling drop from orbit into the bottom floor of the complex
where locals await with open carriages. Given a moment to collect
themselves, the guests are then herded into the carriages for a more
tranquil ride along a scenic route. The ride itself is docked at
the top level of the Welcome Center at the end of a causeway.
Guests enter and are seated in one of the 32 seats. They are
joined by a pilot and two attendants who explain procedures and
restrictions and ensure guests are strapped in properly. Once
secured, the passenger section is sealed and the transport
begins.
The
Hitachi/Eworks 35mm on-screen presentation, combined with the
customized cylindrical configuration of the simulator provide guests
with the realistic experience of lifting off from the Welcome Center,
rocketing across the sky, into low Earth orbit and then dropping back
to Earth through a temporal wormhole that leaves them shaken, slightly
disoriented and 100 years in the past.
In reality the
hardware of the simulator will put guests through the
lurches, surges, lifts and dives of the trip followed by a controlled
fall to the bottom floor and landing in the first detailed location of
the resort.
The simulator
opens up on a barn/stable where two carriages await
them. A representative of the resort apologizes for the bumpy
ride and farm hands guide guests to their seats on the carriage.
From there, the carriages depart, heading north along the worn dirt
highway through the forest toward the resort…
